Health and Safety Executive demonstrate the effects of hearing loss

The Health and safety Executive has released video and audio files that demonstrate the effects of hearing loss. Noise induced hearing loss is irreversible damage to the ears caused by exposure to high levels of noise. These recordings demonstrate how hearing is gradually lost over a working life. In the demonstrations you will hear the effects of both noise exposure and ageing on hearing. The files are also useful for demonstrating the effects of hearing loss as part of an employee training programme.

They can be reviewed directly on the HSE website or downloaded and saved to computer to review later:

New wood dust exposure video

The Health and Safety Executive has released a free video entitled “clean up your act”. It is aimed at the woodworking industry and clearly demonstrates the amount of dust emitted by various woodworking processes such as sanding and sweeping up. The video shows how much better it is to use a vacuum cleaner than a brush for cleaning up. For each activity the dust emitted is shown on a bar graph in real time.

The video can be seen on the HSE website or downloaded to view on a computer.
